Seeking historical information on NASC ‘Wilhemina’ soccer teams
Hello, my name is Adam Muyt and I’m a 2nd Generation ‘Dutchie’. I’ve been travelling the country, piecing together the rich history of the Dutch contribution to soccer in Australia. The main period I’m covering are the decades from 1950 to 1990. The result will be my next book. Did you know eleven Dutch migrants have played for Australia? My research has also revealed there were almost 40 specifically Dutch clubs set up across Australia in the period I’m covering - most have long since disappeared although a handful persist, including in Brisbane, Perth, Melbourne and Mt. Gambier. Many district clubs were also formed with a significant Dutch migrant involvement in one form or another. Dutch migrants have also involved themselves in coaching, refereeing and administrative roles. I’ve already pieced together the story of two of Sydney’s Dutch teams, Neerlandia and Sydney Austral though so far, I have only an outline of Sydney’s third Dutch soccer club, NASC Wilhelmina, which fielded teams in the Blacktown area in the 1980s. Maybe you or your children played with the club? Perhaps you coached or helped at the canteen? Perhaps you have some memorabilia from the club’s playing days – photos, newsletters, and the like? If so, I’d welcome the opportunity to talk with you. I can be contacted at either 0428 312 384 or email adammuyt@yahoo.com.au Many thanks! Adam
